Asymmetric jacket... again.

27 September 2016
I chronically procrastinate, in fact I don't know why I waited so long to finish this jacket. This morning I've worn it for the first time and I confess that I don't want totake it off anymore. Simply, I love it.

I started to sew it in the spring beacuse I hoped to finish it before the summer began, but I went wrong. I don't know why, maybe I was afraid to make a mess and maybe lack of inspiration... But as soon as my little girl went back in kindergarten, I rolled up my sleeves and I finished it. And it was worth it.

As regards the pattern, I told you everything about it, when I talked about the denim muslin I made last year and, since I drew the changes directly on the pattern, I quickly cut the fabricBut I was still a little bit worried because I had some problems with princess darts of the denim version. But this version doesn't give me any problems, in fact turned out to be perfect! What a relief...

The fabric is not new, because I had already shown, but I can't hide my love for this beautiful jaquard by Armani, that I bought in Milan some times ago. I already remember that, when I asked the fabric composition, the store owner burned a piece of fabric and he recognized the components by smelling it. I was instantly hooked! It was the first time I saw this thing... And in the meantime I have completely forgotten the composition... No comment, please!

The fabric was rather light, not suitable for a jacket, so I used non stretch fusible interface on all the piecesA boring job, that in addition it called for lining.

Furthermore I used non stretch fusible interface, the fabric has obviously no more elasticity. So I moved slightly the zipper to widen the jacket, and maybe I would have had to lengthen the sleeves, which tend to be a little bit too short when I move.

I'm very happy I chose a metal zipper - by the way, thanks to those who have suggested me to change zipper pull, I followed your advice! - Initially I would sew zippers also for closing the cuffs, but in the end I put the buttons ... Why, didn't I tell you I'm also a lazy girl? ;)
