J'aime la mini! #2

17 February 2015
Eccola!
A quick post... I told you that I was sewing another mini skirt, right? Here it is!
My favourite fabric (obviously after polkadots) is tartan, especially red. Yes, I love it because it looks so english (or should I say scottish?), very collegial, but specially it reminds me punk fashion - And I love punk fashion! But that's another story ;)
For this skirt I used the same pattern of the mini skirt with hearts, the Aime comme Mini of Aime comme Marie. So you're probably asking why I write a blog post again about this skirt. Because I added a further step: the lining! And this was my first lining and I'm satisfied about it.
Purchased in the usual local store, the fabric is pure wool, made in Italy, I bought only 50 cm of it and this type of fabric required the realization of the lining.
I sewed the skirt with the same alterations I made in the skirt with hearts: I lenghtened it about 5 cm, I moved the zipper on the left side of the skirt (maybe it would be good even a metal zipper in the center back) and I realized the waistband inside. To this waistband I attached the lining, as Tilly of Tilly and the buttons shows in this tutorial.
I preferred to sew before the zipper by hand and then sew the lining to the zipper always by hand.
I don't like to iron ;)
The most important thing I have to remember is that the lining is always wider than the skirt, because if skirt and lining are not made with the same type of fabric, they tend to stretch in a different way. And if the lining is too small, it is the first to tear.
Here is another basic brightly colored garment, perfect for those warm winter days.
And do you have a favourite pattern that you love sew, but every time with a different fabric?

XO
