B&W Inari

30 March 2017
Suddenly I want to sew a dress for the spring. And I marked the date on my calendar. Why? Because it has been since December 2014 that I don't sew a dress for me (this was my last one). With surprise it became all I could think about, and in one week I bought the patter, I sewed a muslin and then the final version.
I'm a big late, but finally I joined the Inari tee dress party! And it was pure chance. Obviously I knew this Named Clothing's pattern and I saw so many versionson the sewing community, but it was only when on my Instagram feed I saw one of the versions made by Trine of Groovy baby... and mama (she's an Inary lady and on her blog you can find many beautiful versions) that I decided to try this pattern.
This time I decided to make a muslin because this dress has a cocoon line and I was not sure about it because it's something new for me. And I'm really happy to have made a muslin because the size I chose was too big and I had to go down to size 38. I made only an alteration to the shoulders and I widened about 1 cm, but maybe next time I'll have to widen them about 1,5 cm. I decided to finish the neckline with some bias tape made with the same fabric of the dress.

If you think about spring, black and white aren't the first colors that come to mind, but you know my love for black and I like a lot this graphic print. The fabric is a rather light polyester that I bought last autumn from Supercut without any ideas how to use it (unfortunately this fabric is not more available) and I loved sewing it. On the pics I decided to wear it on my winter uniform, black turtleneck and jeans, and I love this outfit, but I can't wait to wear this dress next summer.
Fast and easy to sew, despite my skecpticism for the cocoon line, this pattern is very versatile. Surely I'll make another one in chambray or linen (what do you think about a sleeveless summer version?).
I want to buy the fabric to make the second version but I'm still waiting because on April I'll partecipate in the event organized by Blog Italiani di cucito with brunch + fabrics, and I'm sure I'll find so many fabrics to buy... I can't wait!
